Larger than the standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper size, 8 1/2 x 14 is know as the legal paper size. Why you ask is 8 1/2 x 14 called legal size? Back some time, paper was typically manufactured to 17 x 22. Lawyers, who needed larger sheets for note taking would simply cut this paper in half.
