All About Heavyweight Cardstock Paper 89-111lb (241-300 gsm)
This heavyweight cardstock paper category consists of paper ranging from 89-111lb (241-300 gsm) cover. This cardstock is very thick, rigid, able to stand on its own, and can't easily be folded without pre-scoring, or pre-creasing. Heavyweight cardstock is great for marking invitations, business cards, greeting cards, and packaging. Can I print on heavy cardstock with my home printer?
This is a common question, the answer to which varies with the exact thickness of the paper, the finish/texture of the paper, and the type of printer you are using. Many home laser and inkjet printers can handle paper up to 100lb cover with a smooth, matte (uncoated) finish. However, we always recommend ordering a sample to test prior to purchase. For more detail and tips and tricks on cardstock printing, please view How to Print on Cardstock on our blog.
Why does heavyweight cardstock have to be scored before folding?
Scoring, or pre-creasing cardstock before folding it makes it easier to fold and helps create a neater, cleaner, more professional fold. As an example, try folding a piece of thin cardboard (such as a cereal box) in half by hand. Notice how there is cracking along the fold? Now, take another piece of that box and use a straight edge (such as a ruler) and a scoring tool (such as a butter knife) to create a crease in the cardboard - then fold it. Note how much easier it was to fold the cardboard after scoring it, and how much better the fold looks. Heavyweight cardstock works the same way!Does LCI Paper Sell 110 lb Cardstock Paper?
Not officially, but we offer 105 and 111 lb cardstock paper, which is very close! If you are looking specifically for 110 lb card stock, it is also important to note that paper weight doesn't necessarily equate to paper thickness, so our 105 or 111lb options may be just perfect for your project!Learn about Paper Weights:
